声が裏返る
I tried googling this, and reading the link: http://bulo.hujiang.com/question/90617/
It says that literally it means that "One's voice is wrong"
Would it be proper to translate 声が裏返る as "One's voice being strained trying to speak" due to some circumstance?
Edit:
After more googling, it seems 絞り上げる means "to strain one's voice" among other things. So how exactly should I interpret 声が裏返る?

Re: 声が裏返る
JFYI, this expression usually means a sudden (accidental) change of voice. If it happens when you sing, it’s assumed a failure. If it happens when you speak, it’s assumed as a sign of being nervous. But it always refers to “unexpected HIGH pitch”.
