リレーコラム anyone.

Do you have a translation question?

リレーコラム anyone.

Postby jimbreen » Thu 09.19.2013 9:21 pm

A question for our native speakers. The term "リレーコラム" crops up in WWW pages, and seems to be associated with a WWW page where different articles, points-of-view, etc. appear. An example can be seen at http://www.staralliance.jp/pr/column/ It seems to be a 和製英語 formation from "relay column".

The question is "how would you translate "リレーコラム"? (Warning: the best answer may influence the entry in a certain dictionary.) 直訳 versions are to be avoided.

Cheers

Sorry not to have responded to this (I went off to Finland and Sweden for a few weeks, and am only catching up now.)

What we went with was: "regular column or opinion piece written by a different person each time (wasei: relay column)". That was proposed by a Japanese-resident editor, and seemed fine.

Thanks

Are you THE Jim Breen, the Monash Jim Breen? I have relied on EDICT for many years. It (and anime of course ^_^) has taught me the language. Thank you for all you have done to help me (and innumerable others) so much for so long. It's a great honor and privilege to encounter you.

If YOU come here for advice, I guess I've come to the right place for my Japanese language issues.
