Chinese or Japanese????

Post by Kisshu » Sun 11.20.2005 7:37 pm

I have a question... I just bought this manga for a really cheap price (2 dollars?) and I am wondering if it is in the Chinese language or Japanese language... the publisher sounds very Chinese but the back of it says Japanese language.. I confess that I only know like 25 kanji and if the book is Japanese, most of it is in kanji....

Here is a link to the cover of the book that I just scanned... can someone translate it or tell me if it is Japanese or Chinese?

Seems very chinese to me. I'm sorry that I don't know many of the kanji there (I see only middle (naka), small (chiisai), river (kawa)) so I can't get any meaning.
Anyway just watch some random pages... if there are some を、の、は、が、に、へ (particles) it's japanese. :D

中華小厨師 肆
the little chef of Chinese cuisine, fourth
正式授權中文版
Officially licensed Chinese version
小川悦司
Ogawa Etsushi in Japanese, Xiao Chuan Yue Si in Mandarin

Japanese title is 中華一番!(ちゅうかいちばん), which means "Chinese cuisine is the best".

中文

That's the big clue. I see links to Chinese language versions of web sites using these two characters.

Before I knew jack about Japanese I would use the character の to determine if I were looking at Chinese or Japanese. If the の is there, Japanese, if not, Chinese. Little circles in the characters = Korean.
