Thanks for taking the time there to actually put up the clip in question, really helps out a bunch when people do so.

Anyway, I had a listen to the file a few times, I can definatly see where you're getting the desu from, as it does sounds a fair amount like it. However, what she is actually saying there is...ちーっす, which basicly has the same meaning as こんにちは, but used with people whom are closer to you.

Huh... weird...O.o;;

I haven't really had much trouble with hearing things in Japanese wrong.. that's probably because most of the sounds are very easy to tell apart.. I guess I am gonna have to keep my ears open ^__^:)

I think a fair amount of that might also have to do with the fact most people have no form of reference to let them know what they are hearing is in fact correct or not. Just one of those things where until you're told otherwise, you yourself will continue to feel that what you're hearing is correct, when in all actuality it could just your mind bending things a bit to fit what you already know.

If you're looking for some other listening practice, here's a few links which may be of some use...

http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/torrents ... a4861ebfbd
http://opal.ecis.nagoya-u.ac.jp/~jems/h ... ngumi.html

That's about all I could find for now, I know I have some more somewhere, just for the life of me right now I can't find them. The first link there is really great if you're looking for some just normal Japanese TV shows or dramas, which I would definitely recommend watching instead of anime if you're looking to hear more "normal" Japanese.

:oWow! The second site is so awesome!!! Thanks a whole bunch!!!!! But my stupid stupid computer won't let me download BTs... arrgg... know of any TV drama sites without bts?

Yeah... I started watching anime about a year ago.. then all of a sudden, I decided that I should find out about the culture of Japan... and I loved it!!! So thats how I started learning Japanese... but really, I haven't been able to find too many non-bt tv dramas... so I've been stuck watching anime...;)

This website has a small selection of anime, movies and doramas available in streaming video. The selections increase greatly with the paid options, but there might be enough available with the free option to get you started.

Never gotten a virus from BT yet. But I always scan a file before I actually open it, no matter what kind of file it is (movie, executable, etc).

If your dad is paranoid about viruses, you probably have an anti-virus program on your computer. Scan everything. If your dad hasn't put an anti-virus on your computer....... I'll stop here. I have nothing good to say about someone who gets spastic over viruses then doesn't use an antivir program. Bleh.

Hah... yeah he has a buncha protection programs.. i should just go and ask him again. the problem is he went off and asked my computer genius uncle who told him the pros and cons of bts... such as you are connecting directly to anybody else's computer and junk...:| he didn't like that too much... but you say you haven't had any issues?

I never have, and I *live* on d-addict, downloading a metric buttload of Japanese TV shows.

Like Tony, I too pretty much live on d-addicts, downloading just everything Japanese that pops-up, and I've had no problems what so ever. Heck, over the past 10 years I've never ran any form of AV software, and I've never once gotten a virus on my computer. As long as what you're DL'ing is just an .avi or some other form of video file (not some .exe or .bat) you'll be just fine.

Might be worth saying that I DID get viruses on Peer-to-peer stuff like kazaa/grokster/napster way back when I used those. But not from using the program, that was idiot-ness on my part.

I'd go to download something, and fail to notice that the file is only like 3kb. Big tipoff that it's not what you're looking for. *wry* But my Antivir caught those right away anyhow.

For BT.... no issues like that at all. :)
