Happy Birthday?

Post by TheDogLady » Sat 01.14.2006 7:58 pm

Hello all!

私 の 日本 の たんじょうび です!It is one of my Japanese friends' birthday next week, and I have a present for him, but I would like to accompany it with a card in Japanese. How does one wish another a happy birthday in Japanese?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums!

first of all, your first sentence in wrong. you have written "It is my Japan's birthday!"
I think you mean
今日は、私の日本人の友達の誕生日です!
Today is my Japanese friend's birthday

As to how to write Happy Birthday in Japanese
お誕生日おめでとう (おたんじょうび おめでとう)

Hope that helps.

You are quite right Harisenbon-- the perils of being a complete beginner. Thank you both for your correction and your help. This seems like a very good site. Hopefully I'll be spending a fair bit of time here in the course of my Japanese studies.

Thanks again!
