About Sayonara writing
Since this is my 1st post i'd like to say : douzo yoroshiku minna san ^^v
Thanks Clay for directing me to this forum
Well i was crusing the Vocabulary section and of course you guys know the word sayonara=goodbye... this is how its written in the Vocabulary list i read the hiragana of that word and i think the romaji should be sayoUnara...since the hiragana letter U is shown..maybe there is some specific rule?? since the letter HA in hiragana can be pronanced as WA in some cases
Plz if you can help me here i would be thankful

初めまして!どうぞよろしく!
さよなら and さようなら are both correct, so, the ro^maji on Clay's site is OK (he used one of the two variants).

RE: About Sayonara writing
in japanese when you wish to extand a sound you add another vowel....I can't explain it very well but in this case sayonara is written with a U so it makes yo sound longer

RE: About Sayonara writing
In some cases you also sort of "stop" the word when you say it.
EX:
Douchi demo - a pair (i think)
you would say it as do. chidemo, with that little pause after dou.
