Age restriction for the JLPT?

Post by Triddy » Tue 02.12.2008 3:18 pm

I am planning to study hard and attempt to take the JLPT 3級 2008. I never took the real 4級, but I did find the practice tests and kanji lists to be very easy.

Still passing the JLPT 3級 is going to take a lot of work; a lot more work than I would normally put into my Japanese studies. It would really motivate me and help me accomplish a lot. However, I am only 15 years old (Will be 16 by December) so I am unsure if I can take the test.

"Q2. Are there any special qualifications needed to take the JLPT?
A2. The JLPT is open to all non-native Japanese speakers. There are no age restrictions on candidates taking the JLPT."

There should not be any age restrictions in JLPT. I've heard that even some 9-year old girl was taking JLPT. Also, I filled my JLPT application forms when I was 13-years old, but I still didn't take the test though. I lost my motivation. :)
15-years is enough.

Hmmm... this makes me wonder.

Anyone know who was the youngest? Or, an ever better phrasing... how old was the youngest?

Thanks to all three of you.

In that case, I hope to try and take the JLPT 3級 this year. Probably end up failing horribly though :)

There were some 7-8 year olds at the testing center last time I went.

Warmed the cockles of my heart, it did.
