Forgive me if this is in the wrong location


So I want to buy a jlpt level 4 mock test, because I don't want to go to washington just to take the easiest level, and you must know 800 words right? so what I do is take 10 words at a time and right them while saying them every day. Then take 4 at a time and write the actual word with kanji. IS this a good idea, or is there a better method to memorizing words.

Yes, a spaced repetition system. Try http://iknow.co.jp, or google "Anki", a software that does about the same. (both free!)

You will never remember 800 words if you are not also studying them in context. You need to be learning grammatical patterns and sentences that use those words also. Do you have a textbook?

Iknow provides sample sentences for its vocabulary (but only one sentence per word,)

Well, I'm using them in sentences too every time I learn a new word.

Sure you can, it's just not usually recommended.

I made little flashcards to carry around and study, but ... when I started studying for the JLPT I knew enough to pass at least level 3 with no problems, so I knew most of the words I was studying, and how to use them (is it a verb, noun, or adjective?)

A lot of the words I included the kanji, even if it was not required, and even if it was totally archaic/not used in your average literature.

Using paper flashcards I've studied my way through JLPT4 vocab, JLPT3 vocab, and about a tenth of the JLPT2 vocab since I started late June.
