I am going for 3級！

Yes, I sent my application papers in for JLPT this weekend, and i am participating in 3級. First i wanted to take the 4級, but i got to know that i would ace that, and it would be waste of time. :p So, I still need lots of studying, especially my grammar needs practice, but i hope so much i will pass. I bought some nice books for my studying.

Any advise by some who have taken the test? Any experiences?

Hey, Dai, me too! ^_^ I've got a great book with two practice tests in it that I am going to use. Have you found this site? http://www.mlcjapanese.co.jp It has some good resources on it from past tests (from 1992 to last year!) and some general info about particles, verbs, etc to help. ^_^ I've found it pretty useful--especially for particles... which I tend to be weak at. ):

skrhgh3b, it depends on where you live, i think. In Denmark, the application papers and the payment have to arrive to them before friday 12:00.

If you're in the US, you have until 10/7 at 5:00 pm PDT.

I'm holding off until next year. Started school (again) last month; after 10 years without homework, it's a shocker to have it again and there's no way I'm realistically going to be able to get up to speed for the JLPT in the next 2 months.

october 1st? no, the deadline's friday.... but i'm not 100% certain i should even take it this year, so i'll probably put it off until the last possible moment (^^;

If you think you're ready for at least 4-kyuu, I think you should take it. It will give you an idea of what the test will be like, and how you'll perform. And then, when you're ready to take it seriously (next year), you'll be that much more prepared. ^_^

My goal is to pass the 2kyuu, at least (maybe someday I'll be ready for 1kyuu)--I debated taking 3kyuu this year, because it's not what I really want to aim for, but I figured it would be better for me in the end to give it a shot. And I think I'm going to be much better prepared for 2kyuu next December because of taking the 3kyuu this year. ^_^
