RE: What JLPT are you planning to take for 2006?
W00t!!! First post!
I’ll most likely be taking 3級. I’ve never taken the test before, so I’m a bit anxious on how I’ll actually do on the test.
Luckily for me, I’m pretty good with kanji, so I don’t really have to worry about that. I study kanji from here. It’s a pretty awesome site. I know all of the 4kyuu and 3kyuu, and I’m on the first page of 2kyuu.
I took the JLPT placement test thing that Zeo put up, and I got a 100% for 4kyuu and a 78% for 3kyuu, so I guess I still have some work to do for 3kyuu.
Other than that, I use Genki I and II for vocab and grammar, and I use Pimsleur for listening comprehension. As I still have plenty of time, I think I should be alright by the time the test rolls around.
Hey, is anyone else taking 3kyuu in New York this year?

Wow, don't hurt yourself with all that fancy keigo usage there man, no need to talk to us like were royalty or anything.
As for me though...I'll be taking 1 kyuu this year....again. Last year I really slacked and didn't do any specific studying for the test itself, which ended in me getting my #@$ handed to me in the kanji section. This time around I plan on sticking to my studies, and hopefully things will work out well.

Not for sure if you caught what I was talking about there or not, but for your first post on the forums here, which happens to be directed towards a bunch of strangers, it would probably be have been best to avoid words such as 俺 and あんた, as they come off as extremely rude.
If you're going to college in Japan, aiming for 1 kyuu, and possibly looking to work in Japan, working on being polite to strangers may be in your best interest.
