JLPT Level 1 study group?
It is less than 4 months to go before the examination.
I am not planning to take the examination this year, but would like to start my preparations.
Does anybody have any interest in forming a study group so we can help each other out by exchanging questions and advice? We can either use the dicussion board or chat facilities.

LeGasp, you're nowhere near ready to study for Level 1. (You need to know ~2000 kanji). You could consider Level 4, or Level 3 if you really pushed yourself.

I am bumping this thread because I know that there are people on this board who are studying towards JLPT L1.
There are less than 3 months left now. Is anybody still interested in the study group idea? Please post on this thread if interested. Thank you.

I'm not studying for JLPT level 1 (for obvious reasons) but I might be interested in participating.

What kind of study group?
ETA: Like how would it be different from the normal exchange of questions and answers on the board?

These are my thoughts too, but in principle I'm interested.

RE: JLPT Level 1 study group?
Thank you for all your interest and I apologise for not replying earlier due to the need to prepare for an examination.
First of all, I went through all the skill areas tested by the examinations. I think the areas where we will gain the most benefit from studying together are:
reading comprehension
grammar
vocabulary
keigo
The areas where it will probably not help are:
kanji
listening
With view of this, I have a few ideas about how we can study:
1. I have inherited a book (1級読解問題集 パターンで学ぶ) and I am just starting to work through it. If any of you are interested enough to purchase your own copy, we could have regular chats to discuss the text, vocabulary, questions, etc.
2. We could meet up on the chat room to go through some listening material. I regularly do so with NHK news and it would be fun to have some other people join in. The main aim would be to learn new words rather than discuss the listening.
3. To increase our vocabulary, we could take turns to post a new word per day in the forum.
4. We could resurrect Paul's "grammar test" thread earlier this summer. This would be a good way to teach ourselves, but to avoid going round in circles we require a full list of the grammar structures required for level 1.
