Would I be ready?
I want to take the JLPT this year, but I am not sure if I am "learned enough." I have almost completed Genki I and by the end of next year, I will be about half-way through Genki II. I realize I would have to study the kanji more since Genki has a weird kanji order, but would I be ready otherwise?

even if you can't pass it, I think you should take it as long as you can afford it. However with travelling expenses added, it quickly becomes less affordable. If by any chance you live with your parents, this seems like something that wouldn't be too hard to talk them into paying for

Yeah. I'm gonna probably try for it. I live in Minnesota and Chicago is about 8 hours drive away so we'll see what they say -crosses fingers- I want to be sure that I am at a general level to be able to take it tho. I wouldn't want to drive down there and have no idea what is going on. By the time the test rolls around, I'll have three years worth of Japanese... is that good enough?

I don't know much about Genki, but looking at the syllabus (apparently book I goes from lesson 1 to 12), it seems to me like you would definitely be prepared to pass level 4 with flying colors if you learn the kanji you mentioned. It will be a piece of cake.

Hmm.. you think? Well then I'll definately do it if I can find a means of transportation. I didn't want to drive all the way down there only to find that I knew zip. Thanks!

That is, of course, if you've been following and understanding the lessons.
And it's spelled definitely.
