What clothes to bring?
I'm going to Tokyo this saturday for 2 weeks and it's the first time i'm visiting in August.
What's the weather like in a normal August? Is it still hot and humid or can i start packing sweaters?
1 week i'll be staying at Kusatsu Onsen, that's in the northwest corner of the Gunma prefecture in between the mountains. Since i'm from Holland (our country is as flat as pancake) i have no idea what the weather is gonna be like over there.
Ow, and what about typhoons?
I just hate packing useless stuff

I'm certain it will still be hot and humid in the Tokyo area. You won't need sweaters. MAYBE a light jacket or long-sleeved shirts or something.
You know... you could check like http://www.weather.com or something. -_-

The following is URL about weather of Kusatsu for your information.

A light jacket will be useful so that other people point out.

Ok, thanks !
And Kates, your absolutely right, but i have no idea what 83% humidity means.
I'd rather hear "It's friggin' humid!", that's clearer to me

It's currently hot and very humid here. In a t-shirt and shorts you'll still be sweating like a pig.
Technically, the monsoon season is over, but there have been a few errant typhoons sweeping through. If you get hit with one when you are here, just borrow an umbrella from someone.

Long Beach, CA:
106 degrees at 3 AM. And kinda dry that day, 96% humidity.
Now that's hot.

It was surely hot and very humid, the couple of days in Kusatsu were cold and wet though.
But still better than Tokyo at that time, i watched the news and saw a flooded Shibuya, haha

RE: What clothes to bring?
There was one occasion where i actually got naucious because of the heat/humidity.
It was the day after the typhoon had left, the sun was really hot that day and when i walked in the subway station the wind down there felt like somebody was wrapping you in thick winterclothes.
