Hey, my friend gave me this website that teaches you Kana and some Kanji, and you can download vocabulary packs from the website and more advanced Kanji. It's an RPG game called Knuckles in China Land.

I found this excellent java program that will help you study ..
Hiragana

Katakana

Helps me a lot when trying to remember the meanings even though it's Romaji.

Seraph.

I made a website which displays current Japanese advertisements, with an explanation of the language that appears on them. I think it would be a good way to learn modern written Japanese, and build vocabulary. Let me know what you think.

There is a nice website to learn Kanji by Portuguese.

I just found this site you can read Japanese folktales in several languages, or download Windows programs that let you read along with a narrator in English and Japanese.

This thing's cool. It really sped up my reading of hiragana and katana.

http://www.e-japanese.jp/grammar.htm
It covers JLPT grammar from level 4 - 1.. im not sure how much it covers of them, but i really like how organized it is and enjoy using it, so i thought i would share

This has got to be the most helpful link I've seen in a really long time. I really needed a list of all the grammar I would need for nikyuu and this site was perfect.

I do plan on getting a new book eventually...

Two muffins were baking in an oven. One turns to the other and says "sure is hot in here." The other replies "AH TALKING MUFFIN!"

- a great page for learning gitaigo, with how to use (including examples with similar meanings), example sentences (which often link to other gitaigo), example conversations, and little manga. Some examples have sound files included.
Entire page is in Japanese, but fairly self-explanatory to get around.

I didn't go through all the posts here so I don't know if someone
has already posted a link to this site. Many, many, many example
sentences that you can search with multiple keywords. A Beta version on
the ALC site - very powerful.

1. Do not hijack a thread.
2. Do not use "Jap" for "Japanese"
3. Electronic online translation sites aren't worth crap
