rad is short for radical. therefore totally rad = totally radical (or in otherwords something totally awesome or totally cool) and originally was used by surfers and then borrowed by skaters ..

I got my first (and only to date) tattoo while in Osaka - America Mura. I stayed in Kobe for a month, studying, and didn't see any people with piercings. Osaka and Kyoto were different stories. America town in Osaka is full of pierced and tattooed people.

I am not a fan of facial piercings and so never got any. Though, I did get my tongue pierced when I was 18 (only lasted a month). I have two piercings in my ears, the lower set of which I am stretching (at 4G now.. only going to 0G) but it is small enough that no one notices and I have no plans to go really big. I also have/had other body piercings but they are not any that anyone can see unless I want them to. I plan on rewarding myself with a navel piercing when I get down to the weight I want/fitness level I want. ^_^

4 guage is hardly unnoticeable and 0 guage, hell, one can put their finger in that.

Well, I've seen people get stares or "what are you doing to your ears?!?!" or "ew, that's gross!!!" or whatever. I haven't gotten any of that. Not even a double-take (yet). So, I assume it's unnoticeable. Perhaps by the time I get to 0G I will get a few stares but perhaps, by now, it's getting so common that people just don't pay attention.

I have a specific piece of handmade jewelry that I want to buy at 0G so it is my inspiration. But after 0G your ears start to lose the ability to return to normal size if you decide to take the plugs out and I'd rather not go further than that.

<-----3/4"G.
Honestly I only think it gets crazy at 1 inch. Anything under that really isn't that bad in my opinion. But yes the smaller, the less noticeable and the more "acceptable" it is.

Ehhhh, that's tricky, try 2G. Maybe it's different from person to person(?). But my friend only had 2's and it never completely healed, you can still see something there.

0G is almost exactly the diameter of a cigarette from my understanding
I'd imagine that would be hard to put your finger through.

I would imagine it depends on the diameter of your finger. but my comment was tongue in cheek. 0 guage is .3249 inches or 8.25 mm

A baby's finger?

Oh, I'm just messin' you. Even at 3/4" if I have the gauge in I can't stick my whole finger all the way through, and I have pretty small fingers. If I take it out I can. The pinky is another story though, that goes all the way through with even the gauge in.
