Translation trouble
Translation trouble
私はあなたの言ってることがわからないし、私は私が言いたいことを言えない。
それがストレスになる。けど私はあなと一緒にいたい
I was wondering if I could get a translation for this text. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

RE: Translation trouble
Have you had a go at it yourself?
This is a Japanese language learning site not a translation service so if you have a go at it yourself and post what you have got people will be happy to offer corrections.

Don't complain to me that people kick you when you're down. It's your own fault for lying there
RE: Translation trouble

RE: Translation trouble
Yeah I can read 35 characters of the Hiragana but I can't read words I've been studying Japanese for a week. a i u e o / ka ki ku ke ko / sa shi su se so / ta chi tsu te to / etc

RE: Translation trouble
OK, this is my take on it;
私はあなたの言ってることがわからないし、
I don't understand what you say
私は私が言いたいことを言えない。
I can't say what I want to say.
それがストレスになる。
I become stressed.
けど私はあなと一緒にいたい
But I want to be with you.
I am far from fluent so hopefully someone with a better understanding will post some corrections.
Edit: the し (shi) on the end of the first phrase is used to join the two parts of that sentence as multiple reasons. So she is saying that the two reasons in the first sentence are why she is becoming stressed.

Thanks Chi, she's from Japan transfer student but I am determined to learn. The language barrier it's hard. On both sides take it easy.

Looks fine to me.

But to OP: Posting personal e-mails of this sort is frowned on in this forum; would your girlfriend want her private correspondence to you posted on a public site for the whole world to see? If you can't understand her Japanese, ask her to write in English.

RE: Translation trouble
Well, as long as the OP and his GF are ok with posting up their emails, there is nothing wrong with it.
We can't just assume that she doesn't want it posted up, nor can we assume that she does.

RE: Translation trouble
He doesn't know any Japanese yet (aside from some hiragana) and she wrote that to him? I have a distinct feeling this was a "homework" assignment. She wanted him to ask around and find out what it said. Ah, to be young and in love...or infatuated...or maybe just curious... Ah, to be young...

RE: Translation trouble
I'm curious why you didn't try babelfish. The last sentence is completely mangled, but the general gist of the message is pretty much there.
Is really the important part here, in babelfishese, but it's still pretty easy to understand. I think you could've also got the gist of the last sentence with rikaichan, but that's not as well known about.I cannot mean that I would like to say. That becomes stress.
RE: Translation trouble
Why go with babelfish when he has a whole group of native speakers, fluent speakers, and students of various levels entirely willing to translate a short, good-faith request, not only accurately, but with nuance?

RE: Translation trouble
well to be honest. we aren't here to translate.. we are here to help him help himself. but not to do it for him. that's really the only reason that should be discussed anyways.
RE: Translation trouble
Exactly, this *isn't* a translation forum.
Those do exist, as well, if anyone does need something like that.
