Adults in College

Post by Hatori » Sun 09.30.2007 9:15 pm

Hello! Anyway, my question today is...
People over the age of thirty, do they go back to college if they want to in Japan? I mean, in America, TONS of people go back to college to get another degree or to get a job they enjoy more. Is that normal in Japan, or not really acceptable in society?
Thanks for reading!

People go back to university and study for post grad qualifications like MBAs etc (a couple of friends in Japan are doing this, all part-time however), but it is much less common for adults in Japan who have been working to go back to university and study in an under-grad degrees or start studying something different. Not unheard of, but nowhere near as common as the US.

Ahh. I see. Thank you, Oracle.
What would anybody say would be a more popular thing people over thirty are studying for? I know it will vary among everybody.
