JLPT 2007! Are you taking it?
RE: JLPT 2007! Are you taking it?
I literally just signed up for 4, but I'm a little nervous. 1. Because I'm nervous about whether I can study in the time frame and be comfortable taking the test. (although I seem to think I should rather be taking 3 kyuu, so I guess it shouldn't be much of a problem.) 2. Because I'm not completely positive I have a ride to New York. Which by the way, anyone taking it in New York?

Well, I landed back on earth and gave up my high-flown ideas of entering for JLPT2
I tried to study for it, but the hard disc that is supposed to be my grey matter seems utterly full. Everything I learn one day, is gone the next.
so, I'll give JLPT3 a go (and hope I'll pass that one
)

Seeing as I tossed away over 6000JPY today to apply, it looks like I'm committed to taking it this year as well. I'll take 2kyuu, though I think I'm going to need to add an extra drinking night to my schedule to fit in all the necessary study.
At least I looked damn good in my application photo.

You're probably not as smart as you think.

Yeah, I figured I'd place a new post or the thread might disappear for a while:
I've got copies (sorry) of JLPT tests somewhere in my vast stack of Japanese language related, totally disorganised file of papers, but I can't find them.
do we have to learn the kun- and on-yomi pronunciation of the necessary kanji?
(that's probably a yes, but it's just that I hate kind of 'dry' learning, so I'm hoping for a no)

The test is actually to know them in context; so you don't have to know all the kun andon yomi pronunciations... for 3kyuu, I'd say the most frequent ones.
To have an idea of what is asked, and not going into too much particulars, look at this

3kyuu is popular. I need to pass ikkyuu, I've been studying for a year and I am at 2kyuu level (I bought and passed last year's test). I am quite nervous, I am not going to school this year to study for this test. I only read four novels so far, my reading is really slow. but yeah, I'm really indecisive now

I took part of a previous test the other day, and was blown away about all the pronunciations you have to know! And how precise you have to know the kanji. (how dare they ^_^)
I can read quite a few, but reproduce them??
All of a sudden 冬 becomes a challenge... do the two little strokes at the bottom go to the left or to the right?
So now I've printed the list and will look into all those aspects on a regular basis!
Boy, am glad I stuck to JLPT3. A friend of mine, whose Japanese is far more advanced then mine, tried to do a JLPT2 test recently and only scored as much as 40%.
I'm not even too confident about 3 anymore
Oh well, lots of time left, I guess...

Taking level 4 this year in London. I've still got a few bits and pieces to commit to memory though. Best of luck to everyone else taking an exam this year!

Hi, am taking level 2 this year, in Singapore too. =)
Still barely half way through the grammar and haven't touch the vocab list. >.< Will try to cram everything (or almost everything) before the test. Sigh...
Anyway, all the best to us!! =D

I'm no where near ready. Maybe in 2008 I can take the easiest one in Chicago.
