RE: Japanese Cold Remedies
The longer time in Japan is accounted for by the fact that they calculate the beginning of the pregnancy from the date of the previous menstruation and not from the date of conception. Or at least that's my fuzzy recollection of the explanation.
Never underestimate my capacity for pettiness.

Well, if my fuzzy memory serves me right, we count from the last menstruation as well. (This has always struck me as odd). And yes, it is 40 weeks.
I thought Yudan was being cynical when he said '10 months'??

If we were talking about China... The child would already be a year old when he was born. :p

1. Pour ice cold beer into a mug.
2. Crack open a fresh egg atop the ice cold beer.
3. Drink all the contents in the mug.
4. Repeat hourly if needed.

Very good point. That is the whole key to the thing.

Being a guy, I never give that much thought to gestation periods, period.

I've heard that the "10 months" thing comes from the old lunar calendar. However, I might be wrong on that. ^^;;

I don't know. Given the constitution of some Japanese it could very well be a cure for sobriety. God knows we could use less of that. And no, I'm not kidding.
