What is the weather???

This is a weird question, but what is the weather like in Japan? I was wondering because I woke up, here in Texas, this morning and it was freezing cold...but last week it was so warm. Does the weather fluctuate that much over there.

By the way, how many people in this forum site live in Japan?

The weather there is like here, except the extremes are a little more cold and hot. Some people complain that the summer weather is terrible because it's so humid AND hot, but for us it shouldn't be a problem.

Winter is cold like here, but it feels/is a lot colder. It also snows a lot more (did you hear about the snow? I was in the town that got the most.)

So, temperate weather, I guess?

Well yea, temperature...like is it usually warm or cold.

Most of Japan has 4 distinct seasons, but it really depends on what part of Japan. Hokkaido (most northern) can get very, very cold but Okinawa (most southern) can be sub-tropical.

ok so it is basically, up in the north it gets cold and in the south it is warmer. Makes sense, because the south is closer to the ecuator. Right?

Yeah Okinawa is like the Japanese Hawaii. Incredible scuba diving right by Henoko.

Stationed there for about a year. Was in the Marines.

Cool, my dad was playing in a band for the troops in Okinawa last year.
The year before that he went to S.Korea.

Yeh, Kyushu is like the southeast in terms of weather. Except a bit windier and typhoons Okinawa was sooo hot. I sweat in the shade. In the apartment. Everywhere. But it is nice and the beaches and what not are pretty. Pretty much jungle anywhere there is not concrete. Honshu gets a bit nippier and what not as you get more north ofcourse with Hokkaido being pretty dang cold.

Not really. Being an island, temperatures don't fluctuate that much from day to night (unlike continental areas...like Alabama). Something to do with the ocean absorbing heat during the day and letting it off at night - at least my professor said something like that in geology class.

Anyway, this leads to very, very warm nights during the summer. If it's freaking hot and humid during the afternoon, it'll be freaking hot and humid at night.

Makes it real hard to sleep without AC (which I managed to do this last summer...somehow).

I've heard many people complain about the heat and humidity in Okinawa, but never really un derstood that. That is until my brother told me it might have something to do with my being from a tropical island. Stupid me, I had never really thought about it that way. If you have ever been to Hawaii or Puerto Rico (the Carribean really), then that is the weather in Okinawa. Just substitute Typhoon for Hurricane.

Typical weather you know. Not like anyone can predict everything. In Kitakyushu(Northern Kyushu) I remember it being bloody cold for the most part but Sunny and warm part of the time during winter. I guess the winds from the north were bringing it mostly from what people said. So, it fluxuated some. It wasn't cold enough to wear a coat several times spread out through the winter time. But the next day it'd be cold again.
