@ guitarplayer7694: They're cool, but I don't like them that much...The only song I really really liked by them was 'Helena'.

that is house (i like that song because of the computer voice)

That song was used in a beer commercial here.

As a big Rolling Stones fan I prefer the original version. ;)

I am also a Deep Purple fan and this week in my home town we are going for the record of the Biggest Guitar Band In The World and playing Smoke on the Water. This is part of the Adelaide International Guitar Festival.

heh, I think all of us who play guitar cite either "Iron Man" or "Smoke on the Water" as the first song they ever learned to play. For me, it was Iron Man, then second being "Blind" by Korn. Forgive me, I was young, like most of us were at some point :)

Guitar hero has it's place, but it bugs me that people think that just because they can play the game on harder difficulties means that the transition to the actual guitar shouldn't be a problem. Therefore, it's really refreshing to see that the game got you interested in the actual instrument and the bands that laid the foundation for the rock n' roll we hear today.

Agreed, I have a really hard time getting into country. Maybe it's the idea that they all feel like they have to sing in that twangy voice in order for it to be accepted by the country music loving community? I also realized that the "Indiana" next to my name and the "Kentucky" next to your name makes us like somewhat like traitors ;)

That's not really a good way to base an opinion on a genre of music, and I wanted to make a stab at the "country music loving community" earlier but you just did it. I guess I can't avoid the idea that I really don't know anyone who loves country music that doesn't relate to lyrics like "she's the queen of my double-wide". Also, it seems as if you and I are having a conversation through a forum thread, and I don't know much about forum rules but I think that must be frowned upon. Thoughts?

1963 is not oldies. The Rolling Stones version of Little Red Rooster was released in 1964 and Satisfaction was released in 1965. The Doors were formed in 1965. A lot of very good music came out of the early 60's.

There's Country music and then there's Country and Western music.
