View of Genghis Khan by Japanese people/history etc

How does Genghis Khan is viewed in Japan? Is he hated? Admired? or....

Lately I had this question in my mind....

IIRC Genghis Khan didn't invade Japan. Kublai Khan tried a couple of times but was prevented from reaching Japan by kamikaze.

But like I heard. Some Chinese actually admire him, even though he invaded them.
Do Japanese also admire him? or kind of don't care?

I don't believe that the Japanese have any more of an opinion of him than you might have of Napoleon Bonaparte. This might not be true, however. I know for a fact though that although he invaded a lot of countries and had that eurasia thing going on, he never made japan a part of it.

Yep, bad weather that the Japanese believe was a typhoon sent by the gods, hence the name kamikaze 神風.

I feel Napoleon is much more distant to the US than Djengiz Khan to Japan. In Europe most people probably do have an opinion about Napoleon.

Historically, it's not so unusual for conquered people to admire their conquerers. There will be those who oppose and those who admire. Most will probably simply try to continue their daily lives and keep their own identity. And of course be very happy when the conquerer buggers off again....
