I don't see any option for removing an attachment there... :/resolve wrote:

RE: Learn Japanese with Anki
And in quick succession, 0.3.8:
* More scheduling changes
o Final review time is now customizable, and defaults to 5 hours. This makes it easier to study in batches, and the further reach gives you something to do while waiting for failed cards.
o The "made a mistake" delay is now separated into young and mature times. By default, cards over a week that are rated "1" will be shown in 8 hours instead of 10 minutes.
* Strange rendering of the 'edit cards' table fixed
* Auto reading generation of Cantonese/Mandarin on OSX
* Enable font colour selection on OSX
* Correct font colour selection on win32 - selections now work
* Fix New->Sync with online deck - correct deck is chosen now, and no error message
* Fix crashes on PowerPC Macs
* Allow undo on final card
* No flashing 'welcome' message before your deck is loaded
* Add a link to the forum in help menu
* Don't give an error on Linux when loading a sample from a read-only directory

RE: Learn Japanese with Anki
Thanks for the update!
I just have a few unrelated comments.
- [edit: this is incorrect, please see later posts] the old cell phone interface doesn't seem to track attempt statistics (I assume this is a known issue that will not be addressed, but just in case)
- the Flash cell phone version mostly works for me, but I can't scroll in it. I'm not sure if it's just my cell phone (au, Toshiba W53T), or if no one can scoll. Unfortunately, this means I can't use it for the majority of my cards. I know that some of my cards are excessively long, but even the entry 「どんなに汚れていても地ベタが好きなのかもか」 only shows the phrase and reading. The meaning portion is entirely off-screen. (I don't mind using the old version at all; I'm just commenting.
)
PS, the LaTeX equation feature is wonderful! (and entirely unexpected
) I can read equations in English, and I intend to be able to do so in Japanese.

this software looks very good. Ill check them out.

Koryo: some basic stats should be displayed up the top - like
Now: 0/0 (0.0%) Avg: 0.0%.
Rem: 615 ETA: Unknown
Do they not show for you?
As for scrolling on the Flash version, this is something I've wanted to fix for a long time, but haven't known how and haven't investigated much. I'll put a note on the tracker.

RE: Learn Japanese with Anki
Sorry, I should have explained the issue properly along with my assumptions. If my assumptions are incorrect, then it's just an error on my part.
Initial assumptions:
- once a card is rated with a 4, it becomes mature
- mature attempts relate to already mature cards
- a 0 or 1 is a failure; 2 3 4 is success
From my card age table:
70 9-21 days
206 21-45 days
131 1.5-3 months
At least 99% of my card enter the mature state at 10 days or under. I.e., when I first select 4, the time until it's next shown is always 7-9 days. So the 337 cards that are 21 days or older have been answered at least once in a mature state. The means that the minimum number for correct mature card statistics should be at least 337; however, my correct mature card statistics reads as follows.
Correct mature cards: 100.0% (252 of 252)
So, unless my above assumptions are incorrect, something's not being counted somewhere. Also, I have failed mature cards (rated then with a 1), but only ever on my cell phone, so the rate shouldn't be 100%. Thus I made the rather large jump to assume that the issue is with the cell phone version. (Which probably isn't the case anyway. Sorry, making assumptions is my speciality.

RE: Learn Japanese with Anki
Cards are only mature after they've been _correctly answered_ after 7-9 days. So when you correctly answer them, they get a new interval like 21 days. 21 days later, if you fail the card, then that will be marked as a failure in the "correct mature cards" section.
The cell phone should be recording statistics just like the desktop app. The code they use is the same.
Congratulations on 100%, by the way!

RE: Learn Japanese with Anki
Ah! thanks for the clarification! It all makes sense now.
By the way, I just ran into the new "final review" feature. Another very pleasant surprise! <3
Oh, oh! And the kakasi generated readings now preserve new lines! <3<3
(Yeah, yeah, so I'm just it's all in the ChangeLog, but finding things out this way is more fun for me. >_>)

RE: Learn Japanese with Anki
Anki uninstalled itself from my computer...meaning I lost all my decks.
Is there any way of getting them back?
And for future, should this happen again, is there a way of backing up the decks?

I went on a diet, swore off drinking and heavy eating, and in fourteen days I had lost exactly two weeks.

RE: Learn Japanese with Anki
I find it hard to believe that would happen. If you've run the auto-updater, to get the new version, nothing is removed - it just overwrites the previous Anki files with a new version. If you explicitly ran the uninstaller yourself, then the \Program files\Anki directory will not be removed if any extra files (like personal decks) are in there.
Are you sure your decks are lost? Did you search your computer for all .anki files? You can also search in the "backups" directory, which is in the hidden .anki directory in your user settings directory.
