I'm a first timer in knowing about the JLPT
Hi everyone, I've been studying Japanese on and off for some time now. And I've just heard about this JLPT and I want to try out for the level 4 test. That's for beginners right? So anyways, I want to make sure that I have everying prepared for next year.
So everyone has been saying that I can pick an application in any bookstore. Like in a Barns and Noble bookstore? When do they usually have them out?
When I do get an application, what is in it? Just a form to fill out in order to recieve the test? Then I have to hand that in by Auguast right?
I'm sorry that I am asking so many question, I just want to make sure that I get it right. Maybe if anybody could tell me how was their first expirence in getting their test.
I'm an American from New York, so if anybody can help me out it would great.

RE: I'm a first timer in knowing about the JLPT
as i recall correctly, application time runs from july to september/october.
and as far as i know, the applications can only be obtained in bookstores inside japan, somebody please correct me if i'm mistaken.
but you can always go to your local japanese embassy and ask for the papers there....

You have to register through the Japan Foundation, Los Angeles.
There are 8 test sites in the United States. Anything you want to know about taking the JLPT in the US is at the link provided above.

OK, if you actually read the site I linked you to, you would realize that you must register through THEM for ALL test locations. It's proctored in NY, you don't apply locally.
