Cost Of Living Calculation Help
Hello all. I am currently initiating my salary negotiations for my move to Japan. I want to have a reliable source for cost of living (the more sources the better).
I just want to make sure that my new salary will at least be equivalent to what I am currently being paid. I'm living in Long Beach and will be moving to Osaka.
My company is Japanese but I am working for the US division, which is who will be paying my salary while I am over there.
Thank you very much!

while you are telling us some things, it will be difficult at best for us to really be able to tell.
what is your current salary, your current cost of living. what do you pay for rent/mortgage etc.
I know those are very personal questions, but without that knowledge, well, we might as well just throw darts at a dart board blind folded.

I'm sorry, but what I was trying to request is if there are any sources that people know of. Any good websites, agencies... that sort of thing. It needs to be legit.
Thank you again.

AH, you mean like a comparison website that allows you to check cost of living and the like?

Bottom table shows Osaka's ranking.

This just has random info, but you get an idea.

Third post talks about Osaka
From what I read in different google sites (small info that you can find on your own) you have an awesome time in Osaka if you get paid by japanese company paying japanese taxes... so you'll DEFINITELY be living a little shorter on money if you're getting paid "long beach" salary, without a doubt.
BTW, what the hell kind of answer was that john2?

I don't get the point(PS:I hate spending!)
The point, John2, is that when a person looks at moving from one area to the next that person needs to see if his finances can handle the move. IN this case the OP is looking to renegotiate his contract/salary and wants to make sure he asks for enough to support himself while he lives in Japan.
I suppose once you get in the workforce and have to consider a move/transfer then it will all hit him..
