How much social interaction is necessary in Japan?
Is the amount of social interaction needed in Japanese culture any greater than that in the US? I need to know in case I end up visiting or living in Japan. I shun social interaction outside of my immediate family. I have no desire for friends, dating, or public places.

Huh? What kind of question is that?
The amount of social interaction that a person requires is dependent on the person, not the culture.
This is another troll thread, isn:t it...

The "West Virginia" part is ringing a bell.

Hey, I stayed overnight in Morgantown last summer. You must've been the guy who ignored me at the gas station.

Surely if you don't like public places or talking to people then you could just stay in your room in the US and pretend it's Japan?

Doesn't get you very far, though.

How is social interaction NOT dependent on the culture? From what I've experienced it is. If I have to be more active socially then I'd be more miserable in Japan than I am here.

I'm just not a people person. That's all. Being around people just leads to trouble.

Nobody's going to physically force you to hang out with them, miseryguts. What are you worried about, being dragged to karaoke at gunpoint? Do you think Japanese people are in the habit kidnapping foreigners and taking them dancing, or something?
Don't move to England. We'll make you come out with us and drink tea.
(I'll rephrase my post above: what would be the point in living in Japan if you didn't want to ever socialise with any Japanese people? If the only people you'll want to be about are your family, why move so far away from them?)

Please be nice, everyone. He may be a bit of a nutter, but it isn't that often we get new friends who write in complete sentences.

It wasn't a joke. You would do well to emulate him.

Maybe it would be wise of me to make sense, and to use correct grammar perhaps but it would not do me well, in my opinion to emulate someone I do not even know very well. Haha, confusion lingers.
