Why do japanese movies suck?

anime and movies are two different things and don't involve the same materials. To compare the effects neccessary to a movie and the drawings used for anime is kind of strange. it doesn't help the arguement any.

Interesting, resurrecting this thread. I was surprised the OP is in the States. I believe in Sturgeon's Law, that 90% of everything is crap, Japanese movies included. However, being in the States we tend to be exposed to things from Japan that appeal to American tastes: award-winning stuff or big genre hits or "Asian Extreme," skewing that 90% down a bit. We get the cream of the crop, so to speak.

If the OP were in Japan and exposed constantly to its daily pop culture, I'd understand better his/her contention that it all sucks.

i dont think japanese movies suck overall. I agree they have some pretty bad ones, but i think the good ones outdo the bad. Particularly japanese horror movies i find to be kinda stupid. Thats just my opinion though.

I think american movies have just as much bad movies as japan has. I've watched very well edited/lighting/acting/and special effects in japanese movies, just as well ive seen horrible ones. Thats the same case in American movies as well, you seem horribly done movies, and yet some amazing movies.

Japanese movies rock! After i started getting interested in japan and watching japanese movies and doramas, i've pretty much totally stopped watching all that american stuff!
I really do feel that Japan are 100 times at everything they do... like being funny, making good tv-shows, movies and doramas
