Everyone--Please test this forum link
Go here
The above link is the forum incorporated (using iframe) into Drupal. Please tell me what you think. I've tested it (I'm actually typing this from there) and it seems to work perfectly.
The only drawback I see right now is I had to set the iframe's height at an incredibly large number to get all the posts in. This means the browser's scrollbar will scroll for a while.

Aahh! Yesh, Yesh. The scroll thing did strike me as odd. But it seems to work fine other than that.

Re: Everyone--Please test this forum link
Well, that didn't take long. Links seems to have a little problem. If you click a link in the forum to another spot on the forum it 'reopens' TJP to that new forum....gah...so unclear.
Attempt #2, you end up with TJP opened up twice in the same window. One within the other. So a 'window' within a 'window' thing.
EDIT: k, to keep form 'spamming' (:p) I'll just put it here. The black bar link does has the above problem. The pretty lady one doesn't have the drupal frame.

I fixed the pretty lady link. I'll check on the other issue... Anyone have any ideas how to fix that using iframe?
This would be SOOOOOOOOOO nice if it worked out of the box.

It doesn't seem to work at all for me (Mac OS X leopard with Firefox 2.0.0.12)
I load the page, and the forum does not show up at all. It also somewhat kills firefox.

There is a lot of white space at the bottom of the page. Are you sure you scrolled all the way to the top?
Does it work with Safari?

Hella lotta blank stuff at the bottom to scroll through. That can't be right.

Re: Everyone--Please test this forum link
Browsing is slightly annoying now. When I go forward or backwards into a thread, I seem to come out with a random vertical orientation. I had to scroll up several pages to see the forum because when I clicked on the thread it took me way down to the bottom and all I saw was white. Is there a way to keep us starting at the top of the page instead of somewhere randomly?

either the right hand scroll is crowding this area or this area is overflowing under the right hand scroll. so that I cannot see the full text ..

I'm afraid it is right. I had to set the height at a fixed pixel number. The reason it is so huge is to accommodate the longest posts. If I didn't, it would cut off mid-post. The HTML command is iframe and there may be a workaround to fix that.
Anyone know?

I don't think it is random but stays exactly where you were. So for example if you are at the bottom of a page with a lot of posts and go to one without many posts, you will see white space.
Again, I'll see if there isn't a fix for this.

What browser and OS are you using?
EDIT: I take that back, there is a way to make the iframe be much smaller. I can make it have a scrollbar when the forum exceeds the given height of the iframe. I can try that to see which people prefer. I didn't like the scrollbar, but maybe it is better than having all that white space. --Or perhaps the solution is to seriously hack the forum to get it to fit in drupal through coding.
EDIT AGAIN: Alright, I added the bar back again and I guess it is less annoying than the white space. Let me know which you prefer.

Re: Everyone--Please test this forum link
To open a web page property ( right click) is the only way to find URLs of forum threads ?
Otherwise, all threads URLs are
http://www.thejapanesepage.com/node/1661
Please let me know a better way. Thank you.

Re: Everyone--Please test this forum link
There is too much left-right scrolling for me, perhaps due to the screen resolution I'm using. I can't see the name of the thread and the right most column at the same time. I didn't mention this earlier since it is quite minimal, I need to scroll left and right even for the main page. So I have a total of 4 scrollbars when I am on the forum page.
