PM box

Postby coco » Wed 03.26.2008 10:09 pm

I have problems with my PM box.

1)Compose message
I put an username of someone, (even the simplest name like SS or coco) , then try submitting, but it says "No recipient defined." I have to make PM from "find a friend" page. (I thought it was solved when forums got a frame, but it seems to have a problem. )

2) Multiple addresses
I want to send PM to multiple users.
Can we use an "Add" function? ( I fail to use it.)
(I remember once SS-san posted about this, but I could't find the post.)

Thank you.

Have our memory lost in the バミューダ三角海域 after the move?
Seems everything is so familiar, yet we can't recall where it comes from.

We were talking about this problem one day, at Pandion chat (or Skype?) with Gunda. Until then, I was not sure I could PM directly from the "Compose Message". Before that, It showed "No recipient defined.", either. I had to click on your name, go to your profile, click on "send private message", then it would be allowed to send out.

No problem sending messages directly from the "SendReply" button.

I tried playing with the "Add" function by clicking Clay-san's name, it worked; then I tried to add coco, it showed "Too many recipients."

Sorry for the trouble. Just to confirm, this is the PM in the forums, right?

I *think* there is an option to have multiple recipients and I think I turned that off to prevent spam. But there should be no problem turning that on.

Please let me know if it is the PM in the forums (sorry we have two systems running right now!)

Yes, I mean Forum PM. :)
Drupal Messanger ( right upper) doesn't have Compose message column( or sent message box). Private message link in user log-in column goes to forum PM , I think.

One more question, what is the difference between out box and sent message box?
Out box says 200 message is stored, but as far as I know, it stored 12 max. On the other hand "sent message" box works correctly.

I just checked PM box (from forum), actually, my test message to Clay-san was not sent out, it was stored in outbox.

From a little bit of testing I did. It seems the "Outbox" is where a message is stored till it is successfully sent, then it's moved to "Sent Messages".

Thank you SS-san and Oni-san.
Does it mean;
PM is unread---- Out box.
PM was read-----sent message
:?:
-----
Edit:
I've sent PM to Oni-san. I put SS-san's name with ADD blank.
Now, PM to Oni-san is in Outbox, I failed to send PM with add function, I think.

When Oni-san read my PM, it might move to the Sent messages.
I feel like asking to SJT-san, like this;
How many PMs are there in your Outbox?

Exactly the same problem I was facing with the "ADD" function.
My test message to Clay was written on 27 Mar 2008, 19:16, till date it was still in the outbox. Message failed to send out, too.

There does seem to be a problem with the PM system... I can try turning it off and then back on (to reset the settings), but that *may* erase current PMs. I'll email the people doing the theme to see if they did anything, but I don't see how they could have done something to mess up the PMs.

Any phpBB experts have ideas?

EDIT: Update:

I sent three test messages out and SS replied. Here is what I wrote back:

There seems to be a bug where a message will stay in the outbox UNTIL the person opens the message. So for example, I sent three messages and until you opened and responded, I had three messages in my outbox. Now I have two.

Edit:
Ah... seems to make a little sense.
Now, there are still 2 messages pending in my outbox. One was addressed to Clay, ADD Coco-san. The other one was addressed to Coco-san, ADD Clay.

SS-san's PM, maybe sent to both Clayb-san and me, seems to have failed. I only have one PM from SS-san.

Ok, if you got that message then it seems to work.
