Site crashing Internet explorer every time
I haven't been able to get on here much since the site changed, because every time I try to load the homepage, IE6 freezes and crashes. I'm not sure what content exactly is causing this, as its hard to tell from a frozen screen, as you can imagine. Incase it helps, my OS is Windows XP. I'm acessing the site via iPod touch right now, but even now I have to sometimes stop loading of pages because they're taking so long.
Has this been reported before? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Re: Site crashing Internet explorer every time
This is the first I've heard about this...
Is it just the front page? Do you have this problem with any other websites?
I'm wondering if it might be the flash plugin...
Unfortunately I don't have IE6 installed to test this out. But I think if it were a problem with IE6 in general, we'd have heard a lot more complaints (or any at all aside from this one).
Off the top of my head I'd try reinstalling the flash plugin: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
Otherwise it might simply be that the IE6 install is corrupted... or any number of things.
If nothing else seems to work, I'd say to try upgrading to IE7 (while I don't care for the IE7 interface, it is more standards compliant than IE6 and has better security. It's worth the update.)

Thanks for that, I'll give it a shot. I may try installing Mozilla, as there seems to be no problems with it on my parent's laptop.
Thanks very much! I'll let you know if it works.

I forgot to mention that obvious choice.
I use FireFox rather exclusively. I only use IE for testing and for Windows Update etc.

Re: Site crashing Internet explorer every time
I second what you said you may do.
For other people having any trouble with IE, use firefox instead.
There are so many reasons to switch, but a few of them are: you're less likely to get viruses/spyware, your browser is less likely to crash, it's more secure, it complies to web standards better, it's faster, it's easier to use, and is updated with security patches within a few hours of an issue arising. Quite simply, it's more likely to work for you than trying to fix IE.
IE is beyond help.
Go Firefox
Other than that, Opera is a good bet too.

And if you're studying Japanese (which I presume most people active or lurking on this forum are), Rikaichan is a good and sufficient reason to switch to Firefox.

You also have to understand that part of the problem is that IE is just plain dag nasty evil, and you shouldn't be usin' it.

For those not familiar with Rikaichan. I love Rikaichan.
And well said Tony, well said indeed.

Oh yes, another Rikaichan lover here. Very handy indeed.
But, try not to become too dependent on it.
