My son has cancer
My younger son is a Marine, stationed on Okinawa.
I had a call from him this morning. He's been diagnosed with colon cancer. It's already spread through his body.
If there's anyone else stationed on Okinawa and wants to check in on him, PM me and I'll give his contact info.

Re: My son has cancer
Jeez -- damn, Rich, that is horrid news.
I know public forums aren't the greatest and all, but...
I know you said it's spread, but what's the prognosis? I understand with some aggressive chemo wonders can be done these days (although as a marine he probably won't have access to the "relaxing" qualities of certain non-traditional herbal treatments to offset the chemo's affects.
If you don't mind, I'll add him to my prayers -- both as a marine and one who is ill.

Don't complain to me that people kick you when you're down. It's your own fault for lying there

Our conversation started:
"Pray for me, Dad."
"Why?"
"I'm dying."
So it sounds like it's pretty grim. Other than that, I really don't know.

Oh, man.
I wish I knew what to say. I'm sorry he's ill; I don't want to give in to fatalism. Say a prayer, talk to the doctors, and HOPE.
You are in my prayers.

I am very sorry. He (and you) are in our prayers too.
I know it sounds lame, but please let us know if we can do anything.

I wish I could be in Okinawa to talk to him. I do have some friends who are Marines that are stationed in Okinawa. If you'd like, I can have them check in and report back to me.

I'm so sorry, Rich. I hope that your son pulls through.
I live far away from Okinawa, but if worse come to worse, I might be able to get some time off to go visit your son. PM me or email me if you want to get in touch.
