The new TJP chat

Hi Clay,
I want to ask if you're planning to have the new TJP chat be integrated with the site such that Rikai chan will work without having to copy and paste everything into another window as is necessary now for most of us. I think this is probably the most important feature for the chat.

Nope, rikaichan won't work with flashchat, because it's flash, not html.

That's it. Time for flash chat to go. Having rikai chan work would save me so much cutting and pasting, and I could translate much faster.

As it is, I end up having to copy, exit, refresh jdic, and work my way through.

I'm all for any chat option that is rikai chan compatable.

That is certainly a major plus for Pandian. I just emailed Zen about what it would take to install it on this server.

As a non-chatter, I find Flashchat extremely accessible and intuitive--not to mention snazzy looking. But again, I don't chat much so I'm not sure what would be the best.

Flash chat is extremely accessible and intuitive--right up until you hit escape and the windows suddenly go screwy.

Ok, before the big Rikaichan discussion, I contacted a developer through elance who has worked with Flashchat. He replied today with:

Hi

I can do that. This days I have been busy with problems however if you can accept my bid (if it's not to hight) and place elance escrow I can start and I hope to finish in 24-48 hours.

My Delivery Estimate is 1 week because I estimate
About Flashchat what will require is an installation however I see it's working and some php work and configuration.

Please tell me if it's ok and if you agree.

I am ignorant to the benefits of it one way or the other. Would someone enlighten me as to what rikaichan does and what flashchat does?

Rikaichan is a plugin for Firefox that puts edict (and enamdict, and kanjidic) at your mouse pointer.

Flashchat is just a flashy chat program.
