Question about ???????????

I'm sure I'm not the only one here that notices there are some places on the page that display ?'s. Is that because kanji or katakana can't be displayed for some reason?
Anyway, how would I fix this?

Do all the Japanese characters on the site show up as question marks, or just some of them? (If they all do, then that's a problem on your computer, not the site. You need to install Japanese language support.)

Depends what operating system you have... Mac OSX? Windows XP? Vista? Linux?

The FAQ is too difficult to find in the new layout -- there are two obvious links to FAQs, neither of which lead to the wagawiki FAQ that explains how to install the Japanese fonts. Even going to the wagawiki it takes a little work to find the FAQ.

(But Google should bring up some info.)

Sounds like you don't have the language pack installed. If you're using XP and you can't display Japanese text (Try this site: http://www.oricon.co.jp/), then you're missing the pack.

The solution is to go to Control Panel...

Regional and Language Settings (in classic view),
Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options > Regional and Language Options (in category view)

Then select Language tab,
Click "Install files for East Asian languages" if it is not already selected.

You might need your XP CD depending on your install. So have it ready.

If that's the case, it may require you to manually find the disc image on your hard drive. It is most commonly a folder called "i386" and will generally be in the root directory. C:/i386

You can find out for sure by clicking start -> search files and folders
enter i386 in the search field. If a folder comes up, you're golden.

Not necessarily. I just bought a new computer, and I had to stick the CD in even though I had an /i386 folder on the HD.

Hum.. it always -asks- for a CD first, but you should have the option to browse for a different location.

If pointing the installer to the i386 directory was unable to find the install files, you should slap your distributor.

Although, you've sort of implied that your system actually CAME with a CD, too, so that point is kinda not a problem. SOME distributors don't send CDs with their new systems at ALL (especially if you buy from lesser known we-build-custom-PC websites). In those instances, it is ESSENTIAL that all the install files be in the i386 folder.

Without actually sitting down at your computer or knowing how you acquired it, I wouldn't be able to tell you why your pc has an unusable i386 folder. :/

Well, I custom built my pc here in my house. I used an OEM version of Windows XP Home.
I did find that folder, but it looks like I need the disc. I know where it is now, and will pick it up next week.
