I just hope I can get used to the taste of milk in Japan because I practically live off milk! I guess I'll have to resort to drinking Quu or something :?

What type of Japanese drink is "Quu"? I can't recall ever coming across it.

eh, It tastes kinda like... apple juice? I don't know ^.^
It's suppose to be apple flavor but it has a little twist to it (like all strange beverages the Japanese come up with  ). I can't really compare it to anything that I've tasted in the U.S.... And it's been a while since I've had it.

Perhaps s/he is referring to Qoo? It's a fruit drink made by Coca-Cola Japan that comes in various flavors. My favorite is apple.

That reads like its made from water (純水) rather than milk. I thought it may have been something like cow piss.

Coca-Cola are launching flavoured milk here in September (Spring). The flavours include banana and strawberry but I haven't heard about an apple flavour. They are trying to break into the lucrative iced coffee (not at all like USA or Japanese iced coffee) market.

I know you are poking fun, but it's calpis (just so the uninformed don't actually think people in Japan are drinking Cow's urine.

and isn't Qoo just a fruit drink? It has nothing to do with milk as far as I know.

(edit in red after being informed that I misspelled calpis)

Yes, Qoo is a fruit drink, although I think they have one yogurty flavored drink.

Calpis is a semi-yogurty flavored drink, but they also make a bunch of other cool flavors, including Tropical Pineaaple, which is super delicious.

That's how you spell that.. I never pay attention to that. Although when I can get ahold of it, I can only get the standard that one needs to add water to. I used to add hot water during the winter since the only tea I would/could drink was mugicha. It's not exactly the best hot drink around, although it is a very refreshing summer drink.

Calpis is also super expensive in the "Global Food Market" and so I usually bypass it due to shallow pockets and no extra change.. :(

I just remember it from the last time I went to Japan and expect that I'll end up drinking it a lot when I go back.

My thoughts exactly. That was why I thought "Quu" (sic) was some type of milk drink. If you are going to drink carbonated fruit flavoured water as a substitute for fresh milk you may as well drink water.

BTW 2HT, numerous sushi bars here sell Calpis for around AUD 2.50 a can.

I think both carbonated and non-carbonated are available. You could look it up of course.
