deal withは基本的に口語的な表現。with, in, out, off などを動詞のあとに付けるのは、口語的な響きが強くすることが多く、deal 自体、取り組みたくないようなウザイものに取り組むという、一種スラング的なニュアンスもあり、そしてこれはまた真摯な気持ちを薄くすることにつながることにもあるため、とくにこの場合、デリケートな話になればなるほど、失言などには、とくに新聞などの報道機関は、配慮するべきであり、口語的な表現は一切使うべきでないと思います。

Saying "Deal with it." to someone can mean that. "Take care of it yourself. It's not my problem."

"It's not my job. You deal with it." (a little inconsiderate)

Or it can just mean "fix it."

(to the Apartment manager) "The sink needs fixing. Can you deal with it?" (not impolite)

Or it can mean, "Get over it."

I remember in high school a friend wrote in my year book, "Elvis is dead; deal with it." (come to grips with reality and get over it)

Note usually it is "deal with it"

It probably isn't a very nice thing to say if you are commanding someone to "deal with it." I can't think of a case where it would be nice to tell someone "deal with it."

So I guess it is true adding 'with' or other prepositions after a verb can be casual or even rough. 'Shut up' obviously. But I don't know if that is a universal rule.

Not really.

"Deal with it." (strong emphasis on "deal") is very dismissive, and does have a negative connotation.

"Can you deal with this/it?" or "John will deal with it" are very neutral.

It's the dismissive tone of JUST "deal with it" and how it's being used that makes it negative.
