tattoo
and it's not mine
But,

someone thought this was Japanese for 'love',
Well, I know it's not, but I don't really know what language it is.
I was thinking maybe Hindi?
Anyone here has a clue?
BTW, I have permission to post this picture here.

My first thought was Sanskrit.

Do people ever do RESEARCH before having random scripts that they cannot read emblazoned onto their flesh?

You can't guarantee that.
I find that sometimes, even when the person has a perfectly legible kanji tattooed on them, it still doesn't mean what they think it means. For example, my friend had a beautifully done kanji on her arm. It looked like real shoudo was put directly on her. She asked me what it meant, and I told her "princess" and she looked absolutely crestfallen. Apparently she had wanted something different, but I never found out what that was.

Maybe she wanted "Spirit Child"
One of the new trainers at my gym has 誘信奉 tattooed vertically on his upper arm. I asked him what it meant and he told me it was his name written in Japanese

I know, I meant it in a sarcastic way.

At least it was a SHE.

Aww! Doraemon is cute. What made you choose Doraemon though?

NOpe, we laugh at those that get random kanji without knowing what it is. You know, like backwards kanji, or nonsensical (name) kanji.. or kanji that isn't really kanji.. That's the stuff that makes me laugh.
I really like the full body, picture art type stuff. You know, what you'd find on the old school Yakuza.. those are slick.

I don't mind showing it off, but I'm not sure if it would violate forum policy to post a pic. I have mirrored Hokusai waves on my chest that extend just to my underarm.
