Re: Kanji email
Throw me a bone, I will take what I can get, 一歩一歩.
In Layman's terms:
Kanji were imported from China more than 1000 years ago. The Japanese incorporated both the original Chinese pronunciation (as they heard it) AND their native words for the similar meanings.
ON READING: Is the 'Chinese' Reading and is thus usually spelled in katakana
KUN READING: Is the 'Japanese' Reading and is written in hiragana.
For example: The Chinese (ON) reading for the character meaning 'tree' (木) is 'moku' but the native Japanese pronunciation is 'ki'
Usually, when you find two or more kanji glued together, you read them using the ON reading, but if if the kanji is by itself it usually has the KUN reading. 木曜日 (moku you bi) versus 木 (ki). That isn't a hard and fast rule, but it can allow you to make an educated guess!
I'm not sure why the JLPT 4 email isn't coming... I'll check on it.
EDIT: That is strange. You are active on both the JLPT 4 and 3 (as opposed to how it was yesterday). Let's see what happens over the weekend. Please update here letting us know if it comes or not.

Re: Kanji email
Thanks for the explanation, that does help tremendously.
As for the kanji emails, I will update on Monday or Tuesday. I know you are busy with the upgrade and the family, and appreciate any time you can put into this.

Re: Kanji email
Happy Labor Day!
As an update, I am getting the JLPT level 3 kanji, but no level 4 yet. I have made a special folder in Outlook and am storing them there, hoping to come back to them later as I barely have the kanji for ichi-juu down

I really don't know. Your email is active for both JLPT 3 and 4 (and the store's monthly newsletter). It says it is sending you the emails. Are you sure it isn't in the spam folder?
I changed the 'send as' email to news @ kanjistudycenter . com (without spaces). Maybe that will help. Just in case try adding that email to your safe senders list.

Re: Kanji email
Thanks for your continued effort on this Clay.
My junk email folder is empty. If there is a spam problem, Comcast is getting to it before it even comes to my email. I have added the email you listed to my safe senders list.
I do have some other email addresses that are forwarded to my Comcast account, if there was a spam filter there do you think one of the other email addresses would cover it? I could also set up a gmail account and try that out. I just want your OK before I add lots of email addys to your database.
Thanks again.

Sorry for not replying quickly! Sure. Feel free to add other email addresses. Let me know if it works. I wish I knew what was wrong.

Re: Kanji email
Hey all!
Today I put in a different email address (not involved with Comcast) for the Level 4 kanji. Within the hour I got my confirmation email which I clicked on and immediately got my subscription notice delivered.
So, the problem seems to be a spam filter within Comcast. I know they have them in place as another site I visit says that Comcast won't deliver their mail and to make a gmail account if you need correspondence with them. Anybody else use Comcast?
Anyways, I think we can put this one to rest. I look forward to getting the kanji emails.

Re: Kanji email
I still don't know what happened.
But I'm glad it appears to be working.
Like I mentioned earlier, I'll go through and clean up the email lists after we do the site upgrade.

I look forward to the upgrade, and you should be happy as it appears the problem isn't on your end. Stupid Comcast!

Re: Kanji email
I, too am not getting the confirmation emails. I signed up for three mails. Possibly, the coupon email was confirmed, but I have no memory of being confirmed for TJP newsletter and the kanji-a-day email.
Thank you!
Edited to add: tlpt 4 was the other email I wanted to get. Don't recall getting a confirmation email for that, either.

Could you email me the email you used to sign up for the newsletters? I can check to see if it made it to the database.

Thanks, I'll do it. I'll put "Kuranado/email problems" in the subject.

On the same subject, I received the 三 email and it came up as 四 in the email subject. The body was all accurate, just the subject didn't match the body.
