Re: Za Majikku Awa
I haven't seen it yet, but I will when it comes out on video. One of my students saw it and said it was really funny and charming. I'm personally looking forward to パコと魔法の絵本, the previews looked really surreal and I like 阿部サダヲ.

I thought you were talking about magic bubbles in your topic post.

Re: Za Majikku Awa
My bad. I just used the title in the Variety article. I recently saw a movie (forgot the name) which was very funny, in a rule-breaking kind of way. A kid goes on a shuugaku ryokou to Kyoto and becomes obsessed with maiko, going so far as to move to Kyoto, etc. The story is insane, but it works, for some reason.
Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Yup. "Maiko Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan" It was on TV last week as the friday night movie.
I hadn't seen it before then, but was quite amused. Twas confusing at some points, as I didn't understand some of the intricacies of the maiko world, but definitely an interesting film.
If you like movies like that, might I also suggest Ping Pong? I think it's one of my favorite movies, and has a similar feel to Maiko Haaaaan (although not quite as bizarre crazy)
