Some Help Please :)
I am now beginning to persue my interest in anime and manga, but do not know where to begin. I have never really watched anime to any large extent, and have never read manga. Where can I find good manga and anime? Also, are there any books or websites that you would recommend for reading and learning how to draw manga?
Thanks,
J. Chess

A website I would recommend to draw manga is this website http://www.howtodrawmanga.com, I used the site when I was getting started. But, I still need practice, a lot of practice. It doesn't provide all the needs, but it provides how to draw bodies, hair, faces, folding in clothes. Stores that sell Manga and Anime can be found at Barnes and Nobles, Mediaplay, & Books a Million. The how to draw manga books are their too, but can range like 20 to 30 dollars.

Good Manga can be found just about anywhere. I usually buy mine at Barnes and Nobles, Waldenbooks, or suncoast ((which also has many anime DVDs)). You can also download manga as well, I do. Of course, my idea of a 'good manga' might be differnt then yours, so i'll just leave that up to you. ^-^
They also have fan-made manga very much like fanfiction called Doujinshis. Sadly, you can't buy them at a book store because of American laws or something. xX; Though you can buy them at cosplays and ebay. I have never read one though...because my mom hates online shopping. ;_;
And also, I suggest you don't watch dubbed anime. =/ Always watch it subbed. I'm not saying all dubbed anime is bad, i've seen quite a few ones that where good, ((Wolf's Rain and Trigun come to mind)) but usually, dubbed anime just doesn't feel right. Oh, and i'll warn you right now, NEVER watch anime dubbed by 4kids...x_x just...don't...it will make your eyes bleed, your braincells die, and your head explode.

If you like sword fights, then look for Rurouni Kenshin (alternate: Samurai X). If you like action, maybe Cowboy Bebop or Ghost in the Shell:stand Alone Complex. For mecha (robots), Go Gundam (G Gundam, Gundam W, Gundam Seed, Gundam Seed Destiny). For suspense, I recommend Noir. For romance, there is Ah My Goddess !, Love Hina, and Dear Boys.
It\'s unfortunate, but for you this is utterly impossible. Swords cannot make an era. For this you need people.

I suggest the manga Bloodhound.
I started with Shaman King and it's really great. InuYasha is interesting, but too long - 167 eps till now and more are coming:o Love Hina, Great Teacher Onizuka and School Rumble are quite funny:p

Anyone who has ever seen me post should know.. I'm a HUGE Fruits Basket fan ^^ The art and story are awesome! It's more geared towards girls, though, but both groups of people enjoy it. Definately checking out. Also, InuYasha, Naruto, and Chobits are good. I haven't read too much manga, but definately Fruits Basket

Some of the ones I like a lot... (some are really masterpieces IMHO)
1) Ghost In The Shell, Orion and Appleseed (by Shirow)
2) Vagabond
3) Blade of the Immortal
4) Gunm
5) Akira, Memories (by Otomo)
Each of these has a very peculiar way to draw. You will find the author miles away
