2 week exchange form...
I would like to go Japan for two weeks over the summer as an exchange high schooler. But, there is one problem. I attend a tiny rural high school of only ~400 students, and the only foreign language program there is Spanish. How would I go about getting a form or application of some sort, and how much language experience is required (I'm self taught for about five years, but no official schooling).

Isn't a school relationship mandatory?
Like, having a partner school in that specific country?
But I'm actually wondering more about two other things:
1. Over the summer? During summer break or what? A highschool exchange would be far from possible then I guess.
2. Only 2 weeks? Going to Japan for only two weeks isn't really going to do it, at least that's what I think.

Well, our relation is in Spain. We only have Spanish program. My cousin mentioned going to Germany for two weeks over the summer break, and her school has a relation in Germany. Well, I don't know, maybe a full year would be better?

2 weeks during summer break will not suffice I suppose.
And why during summer break? Is that even possible? Where's the benefit in that? No school, no possibility to make many contacts etc...
If I got the opportunity, I'd go for a full year, even half a year would be enough if you don't want to leave home for a full one.

I hosted a few short exchanges over summer...18 days to three weeks. It's pretty common, I suppose. Japan only has a month off for summer break, so it works well for American students. If course, it's an exchange, which means you also get to host someone later.
