Romaji Chat!

Postby Tabetai » Fri 10.31.2008 6:35 pm

All this kanji around here gives me a headache, and even the simplest sentence in hiragana takes me about 5 minutes to read (あのいぬはおいしいかった.) So let's chat in Romaji.

Nihongo ha mada jouzu desu kara, minna-san ha yoku wakannai no, ano sai ni nihongo wo shabemasu. Iya. Ganbarimasu. >>
Anoo.. Chotto tsumaranai no.. Minna-san ga, suki na tabemono ha nani? Kaito denwa ga arimasu ka? Dare desu ka, onara shita yastu ha? (Gomen. Random desu) Nihon ni ikitai desu ka?

Nihongo ga wakaranai no amari ha, chotto tsumaranai desu yo. Saru yori hokanai wa. Ja ne.

I understand your frustration about it taking along time to read hiragana, but the only way you'll be able to do it faster is by actually doing it... a lot. Using romaji as a crutch will hurt you in the long run, not only your reading fluency, but also your pronunciation. I know it's a pain at first, but the more you read, the faster you will be able to read.

では、私の好きな食べ物はお好み焼きです。特にキムチ入りのお好み焼きが好きです。

では、わたし の すきな たべもの は おこのみやき です。 とくに キムチいり の おこのみやき が すき です。

Dewa, watashi no suki na tabemono ha okonomiyaki desu. Toku ni kimuchi-iri no okonomiyaki ga suki desu.

Tabetaisan konnichiha.
watashi ha hiragana daisuki desu. demo romanji mo ii yo. kara nan yori ii yo!
ore ha kanji daikirai desu.

たべたいさん こんにちは。
わたし は ひらがな だいすき です。 でも ろまんじ も いい よ. から なん より いい よ! おれ は かんじ だいきらい です。

When there's no spaces added between hiragana words, it's really very hard to read. That's why I always add spaces betwen words when I write in hiragana.

watashi no suki na tebemono ha mochi desu. aisukurimu mo totemo oishii desu yo. soshite, aisukurimu no mochi ha ichiban oishii desu ne. :D

私の好きな食べ物はもちです。アイスクリムもとてもおいしいですよ。そして,アイスクリムのもちは一番おいしいですね。
:D

わたし の すき な たべもの は もち です。アイスクリム (あいすくりむ)も おいしい です よ。 そして、アイスクリム の もち は いちばん おいしい です ね。:D

I t took me twice as long to write the romaji. I think ro-maji (English spelling?) is difficult to write, especially by hand especially after learning the kana. C8

The thing you like needs が after it. Instead of とても すき, try だいすき.
から can't be used to mean "because" at the beginning of a phrase or a sentence. It goes at the end of the "reason", and the "reason" usually comes first. おいしい たべもの は おいしい です から、 すき です。 Because good food is yummy, I like it.

と is used to connect nouns. Adjectives are special and use a conjugation to string them together (a lot like verbs).

Use the quotive と with おもいます. IE, [what I think] to omoimasu
[You are studying hard] to omoimasu. ^_^ (the brackets aren't actually used, I just added them for clarity...)

That's fine now. Although if you really wanted to say "Tanuki are cute and tasty", you could say タヌキはかわいくておいしいです。

When writing in kana, particle "wa" is written は "ha".

「タヌキはかわいくておいしいです」
- tanuki wa kawai kute oishii desu -

can "kawai kute oishii" be imagined as using commas? is it the same idea?

えっとね・・・シチューピーズってなんというですかな・・・

まず、小豆をゆで、湯で切り、ココナツミルクと肉を加え、圧力鍋で 料理します。

I think that's right. ^^; I was hoping to get through this topic without a dictionary, but...

when you use an adjective with -kute, the "i" disappears: kawakute oishii.

It is like a coma, but we can read it as if there was an "and".
Another observation: omoimasu usually is in -te form, because when you think something it is a long process you don't change your thoughts so quickly, when yoi like a thing you like it for a "long" time, so it can be considered as a "permanent or durative" action. so it would be "omotteimasu" (that would sound more natural to a japanese native speaker

"Kawaii" has 2 final "i"s; only the last gets dropped when adding -ku(te): kawaikute, not kawakute.
