Try:
Colloquial Japanese (Kindle Edition)

Re: ebooks
I've a sony reader actually. But I was planning on getting a kindle eventually, when the second generation comes out. I got the Sony because it was easier to upload manga and such into it than it is for the kindle.

My thoughts exactly. I've been using a program on my iPhone called Stanza that I'm very impressed with. I'm able to adjust the font size on the small iPhone screen so I can fairly easily read a line at a single glance. This greatly improves my reading speed. But being able to buy new books and download on the fly is really tempting.
Sorry for hijacking. I'll shut up now (unless Infidel wants to start a new thread on this subject).

Re: ebooks
It's actually okay. I have an ebook reader for my palm, but your comments just jaunted me to think about Japanese character fonts for Palm. Does anybody know the font support for one (I have a Tungsten E2)....

Re: ebooks
I use J-OS (costs about $40) on my Palm TX, and I used the same on the Tungsten E2 and the Zire 71 before that. There are also a couple of other packages you can use for creating a Japanese environment on your Palm - CJKOS I think is the name of one, and I can't remember the name of the other but I could dig it up.

Re: ebooks
I've used my reader for reading several books. It really is just like reading a normal book. Much easier on the eyes than using a pocket-pc or iphone.

Re: ebooks
No, I haven't had any Ebooks to use on it. I tried to port over a PDF file, but it errored out on a font issue. Also the Docs to Go that i had used Japanese font in just shows the traditional "?"s on the Palm. I'm looking at J-os because I'm certain the Ebooks will need the fonts too because all they are, are compiled web pages.

Re: ebooks
Documents To Go doesn't work well with IMEs (it works somewhat better with J-OS IME than with POBox FEP), but when used with J-OS, will display Shift-JIS encoded documents properly (the only encoding that J-OS supports.) But that question was really directed at Infidel.

Re: ebooks
Well, since the manga I read are essentially .jpgs it works fine. Since the 505 does not have the japanese font installed in firmware, the only way to get kanji to work natively is to convert a text file to pdf and embed the font.

I had a Pocket PC that did tire my eyes and I can't read too long on a regular computer monitor, but the iPhone hasn't tired my eyes. I actually enjoy it more *gasp* than reading a real book. I'm sure if I had a kindle I would probably throw the iPhone away without looking back, though...
