We are using forum names and avatars and have used mothra, and other monsters and even some modern weapons etc, that were obviously post midieval Japan.. I say, let it free form.

A rounin named Musashi sought happiness and mental stimulation by traveling to distant places. Departing from Kyoto he headed east, towards Nagoyajo where he fell in with boisterous companions from a parallel lifestyle- Hachirou, Shichirou and Ichirou. Challenged to outdrink an ojii-san who had drunk more [anachronism fixup] sake than wild boars or a mendicant [number fixup] monk, Musashi valiantly matched his drink, cup for barrels. (huh? "cup for barrels?" What kind of a drinking contest is that?) Finally

True to that, but I thought choosing a theme would prevent words or cases from previous tales to be used again or too often. Which could get very boring if everything gets repetitive.
