ジーザスボディ

Post by chikara » Thu 01.15.2009 1:05 am

Disclaimer: This is not intended to be a religious discussion.

I have come across a herbal supplement called ジーザスボディ (Jesus Body) on various Japanese online stores.

Is the name supposed to be a reference to Jesus Christ or is Jesus simply a, possibly Spanish speaking, herbal expert who has come up with this particular formula?

If the former, what are the manufacturers trying to imply? That taking this herbal supplement will give you a "heavenly" body? :?

Did they just turn eucharist into a snack sized to-go sacrament?

Maybe it is made in Corpus Christi.

Good point. That would suggest that the average Japanese consumer would not necessarily associate "Jesus Body" with Jesus Christ and therefore any "heavenly" or "godly" connotations.

:D

I must admit that, given my Roman Catholic upbringing (and having endured Latin Mass), Corpus Christi (Eucharist, Blessed Sacrament, Holy Communion, not the place) was what first came to mind when I saw this product and I was half expecting it to be some type of unleavened wafers, in line with what hyperconjugated-san posted above, and not a herbal supplement.

Wow. That is one of the coolest robots I have ever seen.

What was he supposed to do? Like.. a moral support bot? "It's OK, God/Jesus loves you!"

I'm sure we're all familiar with the stereotypes of Jesus appearing as a robot bearing purple flowers and a bludgeoning implement.

From a seemingly defunct Wikipedia page:

"GOD-JESUS was a 1980s toy sold in Japan, made by Bandai. The toy is in the form of a robot brandishing a Christian cross. The toy was asked a question and would give an answer in a similar way to a Magic 8-ball."
