"Considered"

Postby kurisuto » Wed 01.21.2009 6:22 pm

It's a simple question, but it's quite annoying and I can't seem to find an answer on the internet : do you say "considered" or "considered as", as in "strangling someone can be considered (as) a bad thing" ?

I personally would say just 'considered'.

According to Merriam-Webster's Concise Dictionary of English Usage, "consider as" is a bit old-fashioned but not wrong. I personally say "consider" without the "as".

I use it a lot in French ; it was kind of annoying not to know how to say in English. So now prepare yourself for an orgy of things being considered from all angles! Thank you!
