Textbook with Rosetta Stone?

Post by bigbigtom10 » Wed 01.21.2009 11:16 pm

Hi gusy.
I started using Rosetta Stone about a month ago after learning all the Hiragana, and Katakana off here and so far it's been a pretty good way to learn. But I am looking to get a Textbook to go with it to also aid my learning, I was looking at either Japanese for Busy People or Genki (I think that's what it was called?).

Does anyone have any experience with the combination of Rosetta Stone and one of these textbooks or any other suggestions?

Rosetta Stone doesn't go particularly well with any textbook, per se.

It introduces you to constructions pretty early on that a textbook won't touch till several chapters in, because it's easier to understand them than it is to explain the why's and how's.

Pick whichever one looks most appealing to you. I thought Genki was great, but abandoned it because I suck at self-teaching from a textbook.
