Oh my, that is hot....
I've never experienced extreme heat nor extreme cold weather, but given a choice between very hot and very cold, I'd take the latter...^_^ (as long as there are still energy resources, that is)

As for those poor animals, nice idea, the ice, hope it doesn't give them diarrhea though.... :(

Good luck, down there, hoop it gets more bearable soon!!

Here is the story as it appeared in Aussie papers. Apparently this little fella has become a celebrity.

Victorian bushfire survivor, Sam the koala, a global star

On a more sombre not the death toll in the Victorian bushfires currently stands at 181 and they expect to find more bodies and there are some that will never be found.

LATEST FIRE FIGURES: 181 confirmed dead. Toll may reach 300
1200 homes razed
400,000 hectares burnt
$44.5m raised in donations for victims

Meanwhile 60% of the state of Queensland (2.7 times the size of Texas) is under flood waters.

*sigh* If only the two could meet. I'm sure it'd be quite comfortable for the people living right in the middle

I saw a news feature this morning of an Australian firefighter giving water to a slightly burnt Koala Bear. it appears the poor little guy got confused and tried to run into a fire to get away from all the people. After some seared fur was put out, he calmed down enough to take water and food. I'm not sure what they will do with him, but I'm sure they will at least take care of him until he can be released back into the wild.

He, Sam, turned out to be a she :)

..... Yesterday, Sam was recovering in Mountain Ash Wildlife Shelter. Carer Jenny Shaw said Sam suffered burns on her paws and was in a lot of pain, but was on the road to recovery. She was put on an IV drip and is on antibiotics and pain relief treatment. .....

Video koala famous but a million native animals may be dead

What about the Australian firefighters making the (now over-played) "how much can a koala bear" joke? Do you have a hard time telling them apart too?
