Weight Lifting In Japan?
I'm thinking about spending a semester in Japan, but I'm a little concerned about keeping my muscle mass in good shape. If I studied abroad, do Japanese universities generally have weight lifting facilties? If not, are gyms plentiful in Japan?

Well...I certainly couldn't ask for a more straight-forward reply.

An expletive just because I did not know how much emphasis the Japanese culture places on physical strength and therefore how far apart gyms are generally distributed?

I'll have to defer that question to someone who lives there now.

I live in a medium sized town (pop. 111,000) and we have several gyms, most conveniently located near railway stations.
This may or may not apply to you, but one thing to be aware of is that most gyms will not let you join if you have visible tattoos. If you have some that are not visible under normal workout clothes you should just say "no" when they ask you if you have any.
