Signature Images

How do people keep putting pictures in their signatures when the forum doesn't let you use the img tag?

OMG hax.

If people had images in their signatures which were reasonable before the migration and disabling of that feature, they retained them.

I've removed a few of them for being too big or annoying, but I've left a few.

The problem is that you can't, by default, restrict the size of signature images. So I'd have to try to implement a mod to enable this. Presently you can put as many signature images as you can fit code-wise in the character length limit for the signature. It's just wide open for abuse. :(

I'd like to re-enable this at some point to allow 1 signature image of a specific size. It just hasn't been high on the priority list.

Not to mention that I would probably be against animated signatures. ;)

I'm fine with ani sigs or avatars that only rotate one frame a minute or something suitably slow.

Yeah, but her join date is Apr 15 2009. ^_^ And that one's not the first to have done so.

I see what you're saying now...

What's weird is that when I view her profile through the forum administration here, it doesn't show the image code.

But if I look directly at her account in the database, it shows the image code.

Code: Select all
<a href="http://photobucket.com/images/arashi" target="_blank"><img src="http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww64/junnosuke_sama/ARASHI.jpg" border="0" alt="arashi Pictures, Images and Photos"/></a>

<br>[♥ARASHi♥]</br>

As far as I know, it shouldn't be allowing that. I'm looking into it now.

Well, I have it figured out now. :)

However, I need to address it... *sigh*

I've been told that 〜ないでください without an actual reason (and usually even with) sounds a bit too strong, like a policeman who's telling you not to park a car somewhere (which I believe is the standard example for this grammatical structure as I found it in any textbook I read ...)

My bad. I thought using "kudasai" would make it polite. ( I'm being apologetic, not sarcastic, as I cannot articulate my tone through writing)

I know no worries (happens to me all the time to think what I'm writing could sound sarcastic even though I've no intention of being).
I might be wrong, but I think the difference is that 〜ないでください is a polite order not to do something (or a strong suggestion of not doing something). That is the cop would not be arrogant but still enforcing the law :)

Discoさん thinks using "kudasai" would make it polite, I just want to point this out since I recall this incident. I think it's somewhat confusing for beginners.

Someone by mistake wrote >> ちょっと待てください.

We know 待て is a command form (Imperative), like 食べろ、みろ、書け、話せ、聞け、etc.

In this case, ちょっと待てください (even with the "kudasai" there), it sounds rather harsh and arrogant, like an angry boss yelling to the employees or someone talking to the pets.

To make it polite, it should be ちょっと待ってください. or 食べてください、教えてください。。。
