What age is considered too old in Japan?

We saw a 97 year old green tea farmer from Shizuoka on the NHK news last night. He was very 元気 and still working hard like a 20 year old. He didn't look too old for anything. He didn't even look 97. More like 80.

I get the impression that Japanese people don't care so much about age in the same way as people in the West do.

This is the most ignorant question I've ever read on a public forum... and I've read lots of forums. Your perception of what is "old" changes as you get older. Someday when you turn 15, 20 won't seem ancient to you anymore.

I'd like to try to rephrase the OP's question into something more logical and constructive.

Aristotle once wrote that a philosopher must be at least 30 years old, since only at that age he is old enough to have enough experience of the world to be able to make reasonable guess about it or at least to constructively converse with other philosophers without appearing that his reasoning is immature due to age. In Dante's Divina Commedia the first verse is "Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita" that "in the middle of the path of our life" refers to the age 30 (or at least scholars seems to agree on that interpretation) since the life span of a man in the thirteenth century was about 60 years.
Nowadays life span in most of the world has incredibly increased to a once unbelievable age of 80, but still the year 30 comes back and forth with the so-called mid-aged crisis as it appears that after that age youth is over and it's the beginning of (a long) end.

Finally the question. Is there in Japan a similar idea? So of a mid-aged crisis roughly around 30? Or is it around another age? Or is it not there at all?
